At least that is what 9to5Mac says. https://9to5mac.com …c-ai-sky-enhancer-update/ (external link)

While I typed this post, Skylum released an email with this info site: https://skylum.com …f0e86a2&mc_eid=0f4796ea31 (external link)

I am looking forward to the new release. With a DAM Luminar will be a complete software, not just a plug-in. I have always liked what it did but it always left me lacking what I needed. The new "Sky Enhancer" is not a surprise Skylum has always been way ahead of the pack with adjustment tools. It just needs the DAM to be really useful - now when it comes out Luminar will be a competitive product.

I sent an email to support this morning but have no reply during the day.

Do either of you know if Skylum Luminar offers offline activation ?

I have a dedicated photo editing computer that is not connected to the internet.

Can't you hook it to the internet long enough to download and activate software?

Probably could.

Also received reply from Luminar overnight, no offline activation.

Not surprising. The days of software on floppies, CDs or DVDs is gone. Everything is built expecting an internet connection these days.

Very interesting - there is more and more AI that is surrounding and potentially supporting us. Really looking forward to see how this sky enhancer will perform. The examples on the website are not very convincing: E.g. clarity and saturation are applied to the entire picture and not only to the sky. Not what I would expect from a AI that selectively identify sky...

If you read through the comments on this page:

https://skylum.com …-surprise-update-and-more (external link)

You will see that someone else brought this up. There are some images that clearly have more processing than a simple sky adjustment (like lens correction, etc.) and that's essentially what the blog owner's reposes states.

Confusing for sure.

Thanks Kirk for digging deeper on the site. At work we tried to use AI to identify water in pictures and that was difficult enough. On one hand quite surprising what the computers are capable of - but there is also quite a substantial rate of mis-identification. Let's see what they come up with.

Given that it's so cheap I decided to download the current trial and give it a whirl. I had a little play with it yesterday and quite liked what I saw, but didn't keep any of my edits. Today I got a follow up marketing email with a discount and the following opening line "Hey, we noticed you’ve abandoned your photos. Why not give them a fresh chance to stand out..." To me this suggests a bit of snooping on the part of the trial, which I don't like at all.

a little creepy, as I am using the trial also.

For the PC version, I hope they implement the Vignette Center function, and eventually more options to emulate film looks. I just sent them a note.
