BH adding state tax now

I just called B&H and was told it will take affect in a few days-a week.

The email stated it starts today, Oct 16.

When it starts is state-dependent.

Here in WA state, it started today, due to when the WA state sales tax law goes into effect for B&H.

Other states will or may vary, depending on what laws they have passed.

The feds made a law saying that states could start to charge sales tax for out-of-state internet purchases, but it is up to each state to follow up on it and make their own policy/law about it. . Each state will do this on their own timeframe.

Yep...this will hurt many people and businesses as well.

Sure but your income tax is 6% higher than ours in Indiana, which by itself is about equal to our sales tax. I'd rather have the sales tax, since I don't buy as much as I make.

Oregon is just south of me, and I have Montana over to the east a bit. . Neither of these states have a sales tax. . I have good friends in both states - whenever I order something expensive I should just have it sent to them and then pick it up the next time I pass through.

Here in WA, there is no income tax. . So with no income tax here, and no sales tax in nearby OR and MT states, I could have the best of both worlds. . I'm quite poor, mostly due to the horrible economy in my tiny rural town, so I have to work the system as much as I can in order to live above my means.

I just purchased photo paper form B&H and not tax shipping to CA. When exactly are they gonna start charging?
BTW, for those who don’t know, you get 5% cashback when using amazon prime with amazon CC, helps to minimize sales tax impact somewhat.

It's about DAMN time!!!! The government hasn't been getting nearly enough of our money!!

For those who both buy and sell used gear, that is neither good nor bad, as it will just cancel out.

And for people who buy new and sell it later as used, it is neither good or bad, as it will just cancel out.

The only net difference it will make will be for someone like me, who only buys used but doesn't sell used. . It will hurt me.
