On1 Photo RAW 2019

If anyone wants to migrate from Lr to PR, note that the PR Browse module does not give you the same ability to name folders and rename files that Lr provides. I do not want to start a whole other way of naming folders and files. So no PR for me.

One of my big two hangups with the older version (I purchased the 2017 version) was that while in the develop mode, I couldn't select a few images and adjust say exposure to all of them at the same time. Is it still the same way with this new version?

Also, in regards to noise reduction, the older version created some weird swirly artifacts at certain levels of noise reduction. Anyone notice any such things with 2019?

I have 2017 and 2018 ... will not be purchasing 2019.

If I recall you can make adjustments to one image, then easily copy or apply those settings to other images.

Make adjustments to one image ... go back to the browser view and select all images you want to apply those settings to.
Right click on one of those you selected and you should get a long list of options.
One option should be to copy or apply current or last settings.

No opinion or experience with noise reduction in On1.

Just curious why you will not be purchasing the 2019 upgrade since you have older versions. Do you no longer use them? Your decision not to buy could be useful information to others here.

Simply do not use it ... prefer Lightroom & Photoshop. (older versions)

If I could have only one editing program, it would be Photoshop.

Like the Photoshop interface ... everything there before you, no need to go to different modules.
Like the customization, shortcuts, and actions.

Can't wait for Ps on iPad next year.

Anyone get the focus stacking to return good results? What I feed it from 2-8 frames results in a variety of artifacts following regardless how I position the despeckle slider or adjust DOF. Can get better results manually using the align layers and masking.

Haven't tried any panoramas.

I like what it can do though find the interface to add a bunch more clicks to the workflow. There are areas that add frustration:

1. I cannot use the scroll wheel to dial up-down a particular function so that results in a slider drag.
2. No Kelvin temp.
3. Menu layers, though looking at the 2018 version, this is better.
4. Focus stacking has not worked very well. Manually using layers to mask-paint has been my approach.
5. Kinda slow on my aging i7 and using the heal-clone tool is slow for the selections clicked. Same applies to exports.
6. I didn't attempt a print, doesn't look to have any options available for doing picture packages.
a. I can arrange for the paper size so making a run on the ZBE Chromira a layout can be arranged. This doesn't appear to be an easy task in On1 if it exists.

The export module is spartan. I don't like having to make a PNG file for each potential watermark used. The text is good for that though for some client runs, making up a PNG yields a consistent caption if called for. That's a PITA

There are some nice aspects though right off this DOESN'T scream BUY ME! Still some time to play.

A 4 frame manual focus stack using the On1. On1 exports rather dark with more contrast than the adjusted frame. Will have to figure out what to adjust.
