Thanks Wayne and Daniel! I bought the EOS R three weeks ago and it came with a promotion where Canon Australia would supply a free lens with the body... and this was the lens :)

I'm guessing it was a special promotion due to their store closing down? I used to get a corporate discount through work from Canon Australia but even with that their prices were always higher than other stores so good that you got a great deal from them!

Yes, I think it might be.

Despite being the one to start this thread, I am only just now the proud owner of an R6 and this lens! Here is a quick shot I took with it today.

So far in my limited use with this lens, I REALLY enjoy it! Sharpness and rendering are really amazing and I would say the only downside to this lens is the AF noise which I find is far from silent when using Servo.

Picked up the RF 35mm last Friday. Took a few simple shots over the weekend but happy so far.

Thank you. Just used it today for some team photos. I suppose that 35mm is not always ideal but with only one flash, I could not use a longer telephoto. Photos seem nice and sharp.

I think it can be a bit of an acquired taste. I’ve been mainly using 35mm for 5+ years now and when I owned a 24mm f/1.4, I liked the lens a lot but I felt I see in 35mm now and it just felt weird to me.

No it’s not a true 1:1 macro, more just a close focus lens than anything.
