Curious about this and can't find an answer anywhere...I have the Sigma 120-300 OS (non sport) and love it apart from the POS bayonet hood. The newer sport versions seem to have a hood with a thumbscrew similar to my old Canon 300. Can that hood be used on the non-sport version as a substitute for the bayonet?

have you seen how much the new hood sells for? it's usually somewhere in the $120 range...is that worth it to you? or if you're good at rock climbing i could tell you where mine went off a cliff :)...if you want me to take some measurements or something on mine let me know...i have no clue how to determine if it would work or not though

dang, that sucks to lose gear like that man. We've all been there but still.... It might actually be worth it to me. I HATE wrestling with the plastic bayonet hood. If ya don't mind measuring and maybe send me a pic of the lens itself where the hood attaches, I'd be very appreciative. Thanks much!
