If you haven't seen, Flickr Pro is going to be $49.99 moving forward and the 1TB storage cap for free users is going away in favor of a 1,000 image limit. Full post here - https://www.flickr.com/lookingahead/ (external link)

Just bringing Flickr into line with the rest of Smugmug plans....

Wow, just checked my account details. $49/PA is now looking cheap, since Smugmug has slipped a 159% price rise on my last payment. It went from $6.95 a quarter to $17.97 which is $71.88 a big jump on the previous $27.80 PA, or the proposed $49. The rise in price of 76% that would be the result of announced rise that is the subject of this thread would probably have been enough to see me cancel my account, so what they have actually done, with a completely unannounced rise of 159% means that I will simply pull my account completely. I guess I'm going to have to break a lot of links here on POTN, and in other places. The last payment was only taken on 20 Oct, so not seen it on a statement yet. I only checked my account details now because I couldn't remember how much the subscription was.

I recently renewed for two years at the old rate so am feeling more mellow about the increase than would be otherwise.

Even if the increase hit would come sooner, I'd be inclined to stay the course to give Flickr a chance to stay healthy.

This.

I'm not upgrading. @ <700 photos and with scanty shooting I see no reason to add to my overhead.

I already started breaking mine... I'm not going to wait and let them decide which ones get deleted.

I have a Flickr account, but don't use it that much. I am just guessing but I believe I have less than 300 photos stored there.

I knew nothing about the upcoming change, but it did not surprise me with Smugmug and others already charging a fee.

Did not seem worth it to me... I cancelled everything with Smugmug & Flickr.

Yeah but what was worse was the total offhand treatment from Yahoo hoo I have never liked. The other thing that upset me was all the contacts, followers and even close friends I lost contact with. My pro account was a gift from a friend, it only lasted a couple of months and stopped working.
