Springtail families Ceratophysella sp.

Globular springtail Sminthurinus sp. About 0.63mm body length

Thought this was a minute beetle when I saw it but pretty sure it has 8 legs rather than 6 legs and 2 antennae making it a mite. O.61mm body length

Brian, if you go any smaller, you'll create a wormhole and disappear. These are terrific mate.

Davholla knowing the magnification used (for the MPE-65 either via the barrel markings or by dropping a RAW or JPG file onto EXIFtool) you can work out the size from screen measurements.


eg if the magnification is 3.4X, the full width of the image (uncropped) is 25cm, the length of the subject is 5.3 cm and the camera sensor is 22.5mm wide then
Length of subject =( 5.3/25) * (22.5/3.4) = 1.4 mm
