A few more shots. Luckily black rhino do not move very fast. The night sky is a 25 sec. exposure and the moving rhino pan shot is a 1/10 sec. if Exif is different I will edit my text. The pan shot rhino has been de-horned. This is sometimes done to rhino to protect them from poachers. The horn grows back in about 5 to 7 years. Based on length of this horn, she was clipped about 3 years ago. The younger rhino in the back is actually her 'baby'. Young rhino stay with the mom for 2 to 3 years before becoming independent.

I got a visit from a bull elephant while photographing the rhinos. Hey, they are photo worthy also.

I know tomorrow will be even better, but we’re living in great times. Check out how high my iso’s Are in those prior shots. Six years ago or longer, I could have seen but not shot this night.

That first photo is sensational. What sort of foreground lighting is there? and your right about the ISO, makes night shooting so much easier

er, I should have looked ahead before asking!

This was one of only two places I have ever seen Rhino,. here, also at night, and nearby one morning on our drive from the camp.

Thank you. The foreground light is from two very large permanent waterhole lights. Luckily, as someone once told me, the rhino is one huge walking gray card so color adjustment is easy once home.

Yes, Okaukujo, long after all other guests have gone to bed.

Cyberdyne, we had several good black rhino sightings this trip. Here is one that almost took out my sister's car. and another nice sighting we had on the far west of Etosha about 20 km from Galton Gate. I highly recommend leaving the park via the west gate as you get several great waterholes. We also saw rhino at night at the Halali waterhole.

You have some absolutely stunning shots here, Buddy. My two favourites are the rhino and milky way shot and then the two Oryx on the dune in that order. If you have more, please share.
