Just back from Namibia

Landscapes and wildlife, but a high point was flying over the Namibia desert in a doors off helicopter

Just awesome, magnificent, mind boggling....
Beautiful light effects across the landscape.
Must have been some trip.

While in the Sossusvlei area, I also did a very early morning trek across the sand to capture Deadvlei in Shadow with sunlight on the dune to the west of the pan.

... and the Sossusvlei Dunes were also great. This is in late afternoon light.

Thanks for the compliment. I did some homework before I went as I had seen some great shots, but also some by great photographers that just didn't work. I hope mine fit more in the 'former' category rather than the latter.

I've also posted these in wildlife category (I know I shouldn't upload to two places). They are from the helicopter and somewhat 'complete the helicopter experience'. Once again, homework paid off. I knew the time of day and area of the Namib where this was most common. The oryx to to the top of the dunes to capture the cooler moist air blowing if from the Atlantic in the mid-mornings.

Definitely the former.

Yes, those ‘little’ camel thorn trees are at least 14 meters high. It’s amazing how much more interesting they are once the shadows form.

Very nice. I've seen a lot of photos from there, these are right up there with the best of them, and the first one is very striking.

Thanks, the horizon has a color cast due to some dust in the air near the ocean. I need to work on the edit to clean that up just a bit.
