Nov 18, 2018 14:40 | #7 While in the Sossusvlei area, I also did a very early morning trek across the sand to capture Deadvlei in Shadow with sunlight on the dune to the west of the pan. Nov 18, 2018 14:43 | #9 avondale87 wrote in post #18753634 Thanks for the extras. Really interesting and also stunning scenery. You've captured them so beautifully. A sight to behold. Thanks for the compliment. I did some homework before I went as I had seen some great shots, but also some by great photographers that just didn't work. I hope mine fit more in the 'former' category rather than the latter. Buddy4344

Nov 18, 2018 14:47 | #10 I've also posted these in wildlife category (I know I shouldn't upload to two places). They are from the helicopter and somewhat 'complete the helicopter experience'. Once again, homework paid off. I knew the time of day and area of the Namib where this was most common. The oryx to to the top of the dunes to capture the cooler moist air blowing if from the Atlantic in the mid-mornings. Nov 18, 2018 15:37 | #12 avondale87 wrote in post #18753727 Definitely the former. The scale of those dunes is amazing. Shaped by wind and time. To watch the light play across that landscape must have been rather awe inspiring. Yes, those ‘little’ camel thorn trees are at least 14 meters high. It’s amazing how much more interesting they are once the shadows form. Buddy4344

Nov 18, 2018 16:09 | #13 Very nice. I've seen a lot of photos from there, these are right up there with the best of them, and the first one is very striking.

Thanks, the horizon has a color cast due to some dust in the air near the ocean. I need to work on the edit to clean that up just a bit. Buddy4344
