Hey all!

I'm sure I could dig through tons of literature to find the exact answer, but does anybody know from personal experience (or their own research) the issues with using V860II flashes of a different brand than your transmitter?

I am asking because I have 5x V860II-Ns and a Xplor 600 PRO, because I currently use a Nikon D750 and D850 to shoot professionally. However, I am debating picking up a Sony mirrorless for theme park and travel photography.

What functionality will I lose by controlling the V860II-Ns with a XPro-S or other trigger?

Thanks in advance!!

Theoretically, none. So long as your gear is firmware updated to grok the -S signalling. The V860II-N needs to be at v1.4 or later for
-C(anon) / -S(ony) signalling, v1.5 or later for -O(lympux/Panasonic) / -F(uji) signalling, and v1.8 or later for -P(entax) signalling. You can check what version is currently loaded by going into the custom functions menu (hold down the Zm/C.Fn button).

The AD600 Pro only needs to be updated to v1.3 if you need -P(entax) P-TTL compatibility.

In practice, however, the Sony versions of Godox gear seem to have some additional quirks you won't have run into on the Nikon side. AF assist function may be different, there are issues with HSS banding if you use electronic first-curtain shutter, and TTL seems to underexpose if used with apertures wider than f/4.

I'm a woman. I shoot with a Fuji X100T, Panasonic GX-7, Canon 5DmkII, and 50D. flickr stream (external link)

inkista,

Fantastic! Thank you for all of the information!

Luckily, all of my gear is latest firmware already; went on an upgrading spree as part of diagnosing my misfire issues with my XPro-N. Glad to say v1.6 on that particular transmitter fixed all my woes! :-P

I really appreciate your response!
