Canon EF-M Users unite!

I've had an EOS M series camera since April 2016 and I love them. Such a compact camera with outstanding image quality. There are a number of threads around, but I feel like none are all that active. I thought we might do better to bring everyone together in one place. Most recently I upgraded from my first M3 to the M6 and I'm very happy. The 22mm is still just the killer setup in my opinion. I'm considering getting the 11-22 to use as my 16-35 setup. I feel like these cameras excel at landscapes, so why not pair it with a wide angle. What I have found as the weak point for these is low light/high ISO.

I'll start with a couple shots from my M6. The first is a landscape at 15mm with the 15-45 kit lens. The second is one of my dogs at with the 85L at ISO 800. So let's gather, discuss and share images!

I bought an M5 at the end of September because I wanted something smaller than my 7Dii for traveling. I was thinking of a Rebel of some sort, but the EOS R “Thoughts” thread convinced me to look at mirrorless. I love the M5!

I’ve posted some images in the dedicated M5 thread, and I just got back from a trip to Oregon so I’ll post a couple of shots here once I’ve had a chance to post process them.

I got the M5 kit with the 18-150 STM lens, and I’m really impressed with its sharpness at the long end (I go to zoos a lot). Just yesterday, I picked up an 11-22 STM. I haven’t had a chance to use it yet, but my son and I are planning to go hiking on Friday so maybe I’ll get the chance then.

Well, it doesn't look like my son and I will be doing any hiking tomorrow (day after Thanksgiving in US) as I said in post #2, since it's going to be pretty cold and we're planning to go back to his mom's house for leftovers! I did, however, post-process my pics from my latest trip to Oregon, where I visited the Oregon Zoo in Portland with my M5 and EF-M 18-150mm IS STM lens.

I want to start with this one because there are two things about it which really impress me about this gear. First, as you can see, I was shooting almost directly into the late afternoon sun in a hazy sky, and there's only that one small spot of flare toward the bottom left. This is from an 8.3:1 zoom lens having 17 elements!

The second thing that impresses me is the amount of detail that the sensor captured in the shadows, which I was able to pull out during post-processing. The second image below shows how Lightroom 6 rendered the original raw file without any post processing.

I'd be more than happy to discuss this with you in the future, and eventually document with photo this simple AP setup. However, right now I'm not allowed to lift anything of weight due to my very recent bi-lateral Inguinal Hernia repair surgery...yikes.

Finally got some nice weather today so my son and I went hiking in Scott's Run, a small nature preserve with a couple of miles of trails and a waterfall just outside of DC near Great Falls, VA. This was my "first light" outing with the 11-22.
