How reliable is focus peaking on the M series cameras? I'm using a manual focus 12mm lens, and the peaking is telling me everything is in focus, but the image looks out of focus when I chimp. The lens is being used wide open (f/2.0). I've shot films with focus peaking on numerous non-Canon cameras (f/1.4 lenses with speedbooster) and it's been very reliable to say the least. So I'm not sure if it's a MFD issue or if Canon's implementation of focus peaking is enough to ballpark focus only.

I think focus peeking is for general focussing in some distance. Close up portraits definitely need 5x magnification to be sharp, at least on my simple M10 camera.

DPReview have released their review for the M6 Mark II

I found it interesting how they mentioned that M6II replaces not only the M6 but also the M5! I personally think the M6II would have been better off with a fixed EVF but I guess people who want that will now go to the M50.

I was very tempted by the M6 mk2 and like the removable evf but saved some cash and bought a used M3 and a used evf,it will do all I need and got both for £300.

I love the fixed EVF on my M5 and wouldn't consider a camera without it, personally.

While I haven't used it much lately, I charged the batteries today, in preparation for a trip to Wellington, as it will fit into my work bag, and if I get a few minutes I can go walk about :-)

You can't beat Welly on a good day - only mean anything to the Kiwis among us, as Welly has a terrible rep weather wise. Personally I think the rep is overdone.

Olympus M1 MkII, Olympus M5 MkIII: Lenses covering 8 - 300mm
Canon M5: A variety of Canon, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, prime and zoom lenses, Samyang fisheye, 2 lovely Minolta MD, just for fun a Helios 44-2 58m - and adapters.
