thanks for the timely review - being an M3 user I have been looking for a while but held off on the path of M5-M6... etc.

The M3 slow focus has been a source of frustration and lost moments. Plus no hotshoe when the EVF is installed so unable to use the remote flash triggers.

Is there a wired remote trigger prt - I can't seem to work that one out?

You’re welcome and glad you enjoyed it :) yeah I felt the same regarding AF on the M5 but I feel it’s a big upgrade!

No there’s no wired port, only a digital out and HDMI port so your main options are the BR-E1 which is a Bluetooth remote or using the EOS Utility App.

I was pretty annoyed about not being able to use my old IR remote but with that one you needed line of sight for it to work and distance was limited. With the BR-E1 being Bluetooth, you can trigger it from anywhere and much further so I do kind if enjoy it.

I have the BR-E1 and really like it but it does have its limitations. It has an AF button and Wide and Tele for focusing and zooming. You can do Bulb with it - first press opens the shutter and second press closes it - so it's pretty basic. As Daniel says it has decent range and direct line-of-sight isn't required.

Having a lot of fun with my new 7Artisans 35mm f/1.2 MF lens, and for my casual shooting it's iq is just fine.

Very solid and robust lens, and both the aperture and focus rings are very well damped. Note, the aperture ring is not "clicked".

I'll most likely be adding a TTArtisan (different company, but somehow tied together) 50mm f/1.2 MF EF-M mount lens soon...

You would need to go into the manual and set shooting type to remote timer 2 sec

Haha yeah I guess they make them for a reason after all :p

I managed to convince mine by ensuring I’d sell the M5 to find it haha. That price is definitely good though!
