I'm curious if they'll do similar lenses like a 22mm pancake and 32mm f/1.4. The pricing on EF-M lenses was great too so will definitely be sad to see them go.

We now need a RF to EF-M adaptor then I would be happy and not so sad about the possible end of the EF-M.... saying that the M50mk2 is still one of the biggest sellers. So it might stick around for a bit longer yet.

I read a article that the m50mkii and even the original m50 is one of the top selling selling cameras in Japan and a few other markets. While the M50 might be dead, it doesnt mean the m5/m6 will be dead since you'd think Canon would still want to position itself in a compact mirrorless market. Look at how well the other manufacturers do with the different size formats. Itd be a bummer to see it go, but who knows.

This is why I lack the understanding how the JDM segregates products for the Asian market and world release. Some product may just as easily translate for demand/sales to users outside of Asia. Seiko-Credor-Grand Seiko, Toyota-Crown, Suntory-The Premium Malts (beer), among a myriad of other consumer products that remain solely in the JDM.

A stateside buddy that likes guitars had to hunt for a Yamaha LJ36 in North America. It eventually came from Canada since Yamaha does not directly import them for the open US consumer market.

Hard to say until we see actual confirmed specs for the R10 but based on the 10-15fps I am making a super wild guess it’s not as low end as your old XXXD Rebel cameras so there honestly could still be a place for the M series as a very small, compact consumer camera.

My M6m2 is not going anywhere for a long time. I’ve got my eyes peeled for some deals on EF-M goodies as they clear out.

Im doing the same looking for the clear out deals, saying that I have been buying M glass from my local camera stores used, they give warranty and they sell them with a score rating 1-poor / 10-open box condition, so I have been buying 8 or 9 and so basically mint condition and work perfect.

Sometimes you get lucky if it was traded in with the lens hood, some people buy them. I actually always buy the lens hoods.

So my last 4 M lenses have been used.

Im only missing 3 from the full line up now, the 2 zoom and the 32m f1.4 (this one I have never seen ssd yet, guess its that good)

I might try and get the 3 sigmas at some point also.

Canon EOS R10 has been officially announced and an interesting part of the article states

Canon says that both its EF mount and the M-series of APS-C mirrorless cameras will continue alongside the R10, but it's hard to imagine that either is likely to persist in the long-run.

I can definitely see them getting rid of the EF side but hopefully they do continue the EF-M side of things.

So I think EF-M mount is in danger again if this rumored (external link) lens map is true

Canon RF-S 22mm f/2 STM
Canon RF-S 11-55mm f/4-4.5 IS STM
Canon RF-S 55-250mm f/4.5-7.1 IS STM
Canon RF-S 16-55mm f/2.8 IS USM
Canon RF-S 32mm f/1.4 STM

On one hand it’s nice to see they are bringing these lenses to RF mount but the R10 isn’t a small and compact body so interesting

That sells me! A fast 16-55/2.8...WOW!!! That's a definite ouch for the M line though!! When they have a dual card slot with weather sealing APS-C R body at 32MP...I'd be very happy.

After seeing the specs for the R10, guess I'll be using my M6II for quite some time (don't need the latest Rebel)…

Honestly looking at the specs of the R10 in particular, they are honestly a lot higher than what the M6 II can offer in terms of FPS and some other features. They seem to position the R10 and R7 more high end compared to the M series so Canon honestly could keep the M series around as a more consumer orientated lineup.

I’m somewhat sad to say I’ve listed most of my M series gear for sale locally. I always like to make the most of resale value so I felt it was best to sell the M50 II while it’s still priced quite high locally.

I am VERY interested in an R7 and this list makes it even more so.

I currently have the R5/R6/M6 II. I use the R6 most of the time, R5 if I know I will be cropping or want to carry two cameras. After seeing specs for R7 I am thinking about selling off the M6 and lenses as well as my R5.

Most of the time I am using an EF/EF-S lens in the M6 and as small as the body is it makes for an awkward set up at times. While the R7 is bigger than the M6, it looks to be smaller than the R6, a little larger body won’t bother me.

My biggest gripe on the M has been lack of f/4 (or better) zooms. Seems that would no longer be a problem.

I could go from three bodies (one of which can’t use my current RF lenses) and three lens mounts to two bodies and mounts with better interchangeability.

I’ll give you first “dibs” on my EF-M stuff if I like the R7 ;-)a
