I spent years in development and visit many multi-million dollar sites. Every so often a trip to POTN makes me stop and say to myself, this is heads and shoulders above the usual standard of excellent! This was one of those times and thus this thread.

What do you all think?

.
Every website I use, I wish was written by Pekka. . . Every other site fails me at some time or another (except YouTube and Google).

NFL Game Pass fails me all the time in so many different ways, yet the NFL is an enormous multi-billion dollar enterprise and there's no excuse for them not to have the best and brightest computer minds in the world writing their code.

Lulu.com's design software is clunky and awkward to use and very limited. . Same with Blurb, but not as bad as Lulu.

AdoramaPix's website is pretty darn good, but every now and then there is a glitch that keeps me from doing what I need to do, and then I have to go through the laborious process of emailing them or calling them and waiting until they fix it.

Netflix dumbs down the resolution and it's hard to see fine detail when streaming. . And they removed their review section, which sucks.

POTN is darn near perfect! . A couple times each month, it will fail to load instantly, as if the server is bogged down or having maintenance done or something. . But the problem only lasts for a few seconds, and then the page loads. . So I guess having to wait 5 or 10 seconds for a page to load every once in a blue moon isn't that big of a deal. . I really can't complain about that. . And I know it's really hard to log in if you forget your password and no longer have access to the email account that you originally joined with. . Otherwise, everything works flawlessly.

I really wish that Pekka would take a job with the NFL and head up their Game Pass software writing department. . I would pay double what I pay now to have that site work flawlessly.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I also like this site. So much that I want to donate. But where is the donate button? I can't find it. :-(

Yes, AMASS is very good. Except for the gear list. It still takes ages for new gear to be added. We have two important new mirror-less cameras out, the Canon EOS R and the Nikon Z7. I think cameras like that should be added to the gear database right away. I mean, how hard can it be, adding just two cameras?

AMASS is 100's of times better then the knitting revival forum I frequent. I know Betty and Barb struggle with creative differences of content but c'mon, how difficult can it be to use a stock template void of chainsaws.

have you just been out buying a new camera?

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Easy as pie because you don't have to fit it into all your other life and work priorities and do it. Everything is so much easier when it's the other guy's or gal's work that we should work out a system that uses that to advantage.

I wish, Joeseph! :-P
But others are buying and shooting and need the camera's to be in the gear list.

Well see, that there is the problem. As good as AMASS is, there is only one person who can do the work and that is Pekka. I am well aware of the fact that it's all on him. But keeping the gear list updated has been a problem from the start. Solutions have been proposed, suggestions made and then nothing happens. And so this discussion keeps popping up.

Why can't the mods be given tools to add gear? Or trusted senior members (I'm sure some members would be willing to help out). That way the gear database would be up to date and accurate and Pekka would have more breathing room.
