Day one with the new camera and lens setup... I took a ride out to a local lake which has a population of wild burros roaming the desert. I didn't think I would see them but on the way out, my luck changed. :) Not the best light as it was around 1 pm when I shot these.. still... was nice to test the camera/lens combo and see how things turn out. The last shot was just something I almost stepped on while shooting the burros... one didn't make it at some point.

Shot with a D850 and Nikon 200-500 F/5.6

The pair checking me out.

Lucky you! We were hoping to see some in the Vegas area a couple of years ago, but no luck. However, we did get to see some wild horses.

Thanks! The wild horses would be cool to see. One trip to Vegas we were just making the climb up the hill past Lake Mead and a herd of bighorn sheep were grazing in and around the green belt area. We had just passed the bighorn caution sign on the road.. and all of a sudden.. there they were. LOL Pretty neat to see.

Thanks again,
Hatch

I grew up with a pair of these guys that my folks adopted from the BLM back in the 80s. They were stubborn, but amazingly well-tempered (once they adjusted to people). Nice captures; definitely do not try to touch in the wild

No way would I attempt to pet them :) They were pretty nervous and about 100 ft away... I'd never get close enough. It would have been pretty cool to have them growing up.

Thanks,
Hatch

Glad you're happy with the new gear, Hatch. Enjoy.
