Because of the strange way you've responded to this post, it won't show what you wrote... but I'll give my $0.02 for "why use Capture 1?"...

My switch to Capture One had literally nothing to do with sharpening. I tried out the free trial when I watched a review of C1 11 from a YouTuber who wasn't even a Fuji shooter. The software just flat out looked more powerful than LR (and it is) so I tried it out. Within 2 weeks of using it I knew I was going to buy it.

There's way more to Capture One than just a minute difference in sharpness with Fuji files (yes, I said minute, Fuji files are plenty sharp in LR). It gives you very easy to use masking and layer tools, very powerful color correction tools, presets and adjustments with opacity options in layers, focus masks to check critical focus very quickly for culling purposes, much better Microsoft pen support for creating masks (I always had issues with this in LR, perhaps it's gotten better now), the list goes on...

Above all else and most importantly; C1 is SIGNIFICANTLY faster in every possible measure than LR was. Even on my weakest computer, C1 is faster than LR was on my fastest computer, and to do more complex tasks. Adobe should be ashamed of how horribly optimized their software is.

And a "reasonable" monthly payment is relative, why should I pay for PS and LR if I was only using LR? C1 also eliminates the need for PS for many users due to it's very competent layers and tools.

Basically, don't knock it until you try it ;)

Capture one is pretty amazing, but that learning curve...... STEEEEEEP

version 12 has a setting to help former LR users transition, by setting up the layout similar to LR. The great with with C1 is that it's highly customizable, while LR is fairly stuck. on the flipside, LR is better at management, tags, and all that. It also integrates better with photoshop, HDR/Panorama, I dont think C1 has that. C1 layers are so nice, that I dont miss photoshop very much.

there are a few very bad downsides of C1. When the hell does my profile come out? Holy hell, hard to get lens corrections, and if you have specialty glass like voigtlander or even samyang, you may never get it. Is there any way to search by gear? Phaseone wants you to buy their media pro to do what lightroom can do natively. I mean it goes a step ahead, but I dont need all that.

Phase integrated most of the features of Media PRO into Capture One when they released V10. Now you have quite a good index and search system part of which is the tags or keywords that I think leads to a more managed image library. Shift>Command>F (or the PC equivalent) brings up the advanced search, there you can add as many field harrowers as you need.

Damn, you're a miracle worker, been using since V10, and could never figure that out :-P

I have been wanting to go to Sony for over a year.

If you make that move, be aware of the content at https://fstoppers.com …a7r-iii-and-a7-iii-315309 (external link) and stay alert for a firmware update.

Good to know. I've yet to experience this problem. Not surprised issues arise in the quick pace of hardware and software development.

Thanks but its not like I am a professional or anything. If I lost a whole shoot the worst case scenario is I would have to go to the next meet and greet and take more pics of the dogs for facebook/petfinder.

Besides it really cant be anywhere close to the amount of ruined images that were caused by my 70D. Between the bounce flash issues that almost every 70D has to the 10 of thousands they sent out with a bad focus system.

I knew of the flash issue but not the "bad focus system". Perhaps it was good that I waited for the 80D, while using my 60D. I haven't encountered any issues with the 80D (or 60D). Both were Canon supplied refurbs. Some people feel that may be better than new since an individual in theory checks things.

Interesting. I've had my A7RIII for almost a year now and I haven't had this problem at all. Maybe it's because I only format the card in camera. Also, with it's dual slots I shoot RAW/JPG and have the JPGs written to a second card, so even if first corrupts I have a backup. But good to know!

The bug was introduced with the last firmware update.... hence why I never update unless something is already broken. That firmware update has been pulled from the Sony site.

How's the AF on that when adapted to Sony?

I was really impressed with how well the 135 f1.8 adapts to Sony and am considering adding the Siggy 70-200 sport.

I'd be curious how well a Sigma 70-200 performs. Comparing my Canon 70-200 f/2.8mk2 vs the GM 70-200 I'd say the Canon adapted lens focuses quite fast. The only issue is tracking when things move. I'm assuming the Sigma would be sluggish when it attempts to track.
