Hi all,

I'm going to tell on myself lol

A few things have happened in the past couple of weeks. I got the itch to start shooting again, it's been 3 years without a camera. I made the leap to Nikon from being a Canon shooter...for I think...16 years. I picked up the D850 and started the search for another macro lens.

I was on Ebay the other day and a Sigma 150mm macro came up for sale. I have the Canon version sitting here at the house ready to sell, as I can't use it. I placed a pretty low bid and I won. It went for the $298 as mentioned above. I figured if the lens was half as nice as the seller stated, I scored!

This is where I made the mistake... I didn't take note that the lens was the NON-OS version :) I thought I scored the same lens I have but in the Nikon mount.

It arrived today... looked smaller...lighter... then I checked my lens against it and just laughed...

So... I figured I would give it a try. In the end... I did "score" a great deal. I don't think the lens has ever been used. It's truly mint... looks, and functions as new.

Here are some shots from earlier today... it's still warm enough here in AZ to have some wildflowers and the bees are out.

In the end... I'm keeping it. I figure for less than $300 and it's the same quality as the OS version I own... I'd be crazy to sell it.

Thanks for taking the time read all this and look at the shots. Just happy to be shooting again.

Hatch

Lovely series Hatch - good to see you shooting macro again. The lens certainly does not look a costly mistake

Many thanks... it's been far too long for sure. I've missed shooting in general...so relaxing. :)

Thanks again,

Many thanks :) True... it's nice to have...but... not necessary for the most part (my shooting style). I just chuckled when I realized what I had done...making the mistake and all. In the end.. it's a great lens and I'm glad I saved some $ as well.

Thanks for the comments.

I have the OS version and like it a lot. I'm guessing that the optics are the same in both.

OS is useful to me because I have shaky hands these days, but in reality, it just increases my keeper rate a little. In fact, it could be argued that the lighter version would be easier to hand hold and so OS is less critical? The non-OS version produces great results IQ-wise, as your series proves.

Well done.

Many thanks :)

I think the optics are the same, I can't tell the difference in sharpness. I've found OS to be useful and would like to have had it on this lens, However, it's not a big enough factor for me to turn around and sell the lens and buy one with OS on it. I like that it's lighter and smaller... easier to manage while shooting.

Appreciate the comments.
