Not quite sure if this is the correct sub-forum, anyhow. I sent a lens to the NJ Canon service center for a service/repair in mid September 2018, a few days later got a confirmation from Canon confining they received it and gave a repair number. Had not heard back from Canon, so I contacted them last week (11/27/18) asking about the status. They said they have not even looked at my lens yet. Is this typical for Canon service response, any members had similar experience? Their website indicates seven working days turnaround for repairs. BTW, this is a $1500 L lens.

Normally when they receive they will confirm receipt and give you a repair number along with the estimate. Did you give them the ok to go ahead with the repair at that time? If not it is understandable that they haven't touched it. If you gave them the go-ahead I'd say something is wrong. I've never waited more than 2-3 weeks for a repair to be completed on either side of the border.

They gave me the confirm receipt and a repair number (no estimate on cost or timing). Thats it in the last 12 weeks.

Wow. I don’t know what to say. Never heard of anything like that before.

I'm from Canada and I have sent gear to NJ several times. Always got it back in about 10 days.
