Lol :D i love people that post to a thread about how stupid the thread is... obviously it bothers you enough to post about why people post about stupid mac vs pc things........

Nice use of mis-direction, distraction, twisting of someone elses statements all so you could take another poke at something you don't like for largely irrational reasons.
You would make a great evangalist

Now, since you seem to think I don't like the thread, when I fact I do, I shall my opinion on what to get, although its one that has already been expressed by others;

Get the Acer, its cheaper, yet will do a similar job, has a wider range of software avliable to run on it, and upgrades like a bigger HDD don't cost come with a brand name premium on them.

Note I answered the orginal posters question, and did so with regard to how he asked, i.e. he made it clear he dosn't care about the OS.

So long and thanks for all the flash

actually i'm the son of a minister ;)

well if its about equipment, what would you rather have... equipment designed to run happily together in a simbiotic relationship...

or

a bunch of mis-matched parts designed hopefully to run together ;)

The unwashed masses.

(Note: this was said firmly tongue in cheek. My other computer is a PC ;-)a).

Was he talking about PC's? Because all my equipment for my PC works quite well together.

That just proves it exists, not that it won't do the same thing as every other virus alert that has been hugely overblown. :)

Ill take the ablity to build and design my PC, my way, choosing from thousands of possible parts combinations.
Iv done that, built a machine up over a 2 year period, using parts from a variety of sources, including no-name budget bits mixed with well known respected manufactors parts and I have a VERY stable, very efficant machine that does exactly what I need it to.

But then thats me, I would rather drive a Lotus than a Toyota.

If you happen to be more of a Toyota fan then buy a Dell, in terms of build, i.e. useing a limited range of parts that are selected because of thier compatablity, and limiting the users ablity to upgrade with out useing Dell approved parts.
That way you get what IMO is the only advantage to useing a Mac (system stablity) with the ablity to run an almost infinte number of programs, something a Mac can not easily do out of the box.

But I feel that you really don't care, while a bit of tounge in cheek humour is all part of it, you would rather just run down another way of doing things because you happen to disagree with it.
Not what I would call an elightened attitude, and it soon looses its humour when continously thrown in peoples faces.

The design adds a whole lot of little things:
- The ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the screen brightness down in a dark room
- Backlit keyboard
- Intuitive trackpad scrolling
- Proper lid hinge design
- MagSafe power connector
- Easy install/uninstall of programs
- Standard and central spell check in every application

Wow, backlit keyboard, trackpad that (gosh) scrolls, an actual real hinge design, a universal spell checker, and some central thing for add/remove programs. I just wish my laptop had those. :)

Oh wait it does doesn't it. To be honest no clue what a MagSafe power connector is. And my screen brightness is defined simply by whether or not the laptop is on batteries or mains power.

So what marketing site did all those features come from? Its like advertising a keyboard and mouse with a computer. They are too much standard features. It'd be pretty dumb to release a computer with, for instance, a remote instead of a mouse and keyboard. :)

Oh, and just to clean up definitions, none of this has made statements about the benefits of Macs. Just that the vast majority of PC bashing is about as reliable as the Vice president in a quail hunt.

why are you so condescending? i used windows for 16 of the 23 years i've been alive, but as soon as i switch to mac because they just work and state my opinon on personal computer OS's, i'm apparently a fan boy and an ****. have you ever seriously tried using a mac? I hated apple until they released os x. but yeah i better shut up now because my "attitude" might be a little much for you...

PS... what a great 300th post =)

Hey now. Everyone simmer down or I'll lock this thread.

Oh crap, wait I'm not a moderator.

We'll lets just calm down anyway. It doesn't matter how much anyone argues, PCs will still be better, so why stress over it. Lets just sit down and have a nice friendly game of Call of Duty 2.

Citizensmith-
That list came straight from my user experience with my laptop against those of my coworkers with various brands of PCs. I'm curious what hardware/software combination you have with those features...I'd like to give it a try.

Unfortunately several important words were ignored, like "intuitive" and "standard", these are easy to gloss over but I find the user experience much better because of them. I highly recommend giving a Mac a try...I did last year and have found many enjoyable things. You may not like it enough to switch, but you may find a couple things you like about it.

when I still had a windows machine (2 months ago) i was very disappointed with that game... you don't have heath?!? you can go hide in a corner to "regenerate" waaaaaayyyyyy to easy. not even worth the cash even if it had been ported.

and besides with no distractions we can get more work done ;)

I'm with you there and I bought the game hoping it would be so much better. For LAN games we use a server mod that includes trip wires. Oh boy they are entertaining. Apparently CoD3 will be out November time. I really hope they bring vehicles back. My LAN group has gone back to playing the older version for them alone.

Anyway to get, vaguely, back on topic. The Acer is cheaper. In the linked versions by $500. Dude, thats a 100 f/2.8 Macro. In the 2Gb matched version by $700+. That's a 70-200 f/4L and a lot of beers. Is your piece of mind worth some L glass AND beers?
