I'm curious if any folks expect a 1DX III in 2019?

The 1DX II hit the shelves in April 2016. So the camera is approaching 3 years old.
Maybe it's too soon for a new model to be released. Or perhaps the replacement model
will be mirror-less.

Would you want to see a higher mp sensor?

Care to speculate?

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

Before the 2020 Summer Olympics.

I'm not convinced they can pull off the next version in a mirrorless.

Coming soon !~ :p
Hope "7D mark III" too.

Think it could be the last development of the DSLR as the resources goes into Mirrorless and EOS R

.
I don't think there will ever be a 1DX3. . Nor do I think there will be ever be a 5D5 or a 6D3.

In fact, I don't think there will ever be any professional or prosumer DSLRs from Canon ever again, except possibly a 7D3.

I think the only DSLRs that Canon will make, moving forward, are low-end Rebel models; and even those will probably only be made for another year or three. . I think that all of the prosumer and professional Canon cameras from this point forward will be mirrorless.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I can see Canon adding a mirror-less pro/pro-sumer camera to their lineup, but I don't think that they are ready to cut the cord on the old tried and true DSLR bodies just yet. I'm going with LHB above, in time for the 2020 Olympics.

Believe this would be the final installation of the 1DX before the sports DSLR era comes to an end....

same thoughts as Tom

Everything will go R mount

I plan on selling the 5D4 and keeping the 1Dx2 when the next mirrorless is announced......IF it had dual cards and a decent Eye focus system...otherwise, im keeping what I have.

I suspect Tom meant the 6D Mark III as the Mark II was already 1 1/2 years old at the time of his post.

The mirror box is the one thing that slows the whole process down. I am sure Canon will be glad to not have to engineer that into their cameras going forward. Fewer moving parts, easier to engineer and build.

RIP DLSR

Canon is not done with DSLRs for another 10 years. It's a testament to all those fantastic lenses and Canon's near-perfected design of the DSLR camera.
