I got a Lowepro Protactic 450 for christmas :)

I've tried a few different configurations of it and think I might have found a good solution now :)

But would LOVE some inspiration of how you have arranged the dividers and your gear? :)

So, images please? :)

I love the bag but I wish the laptop space was just a little larger. I like to put the laptop in a sleeve for additional protection but the 450 meets my expectations otherwise.

Thank you.

You never have a lens on while in the bag?

I haven't in years, perhaps hearing about potential stress put on lens mounts and the vibration on planes causing screws to loosen. It could be strange but I can live with it.

Well probably some stress but I've traveled with cameras for 20 years without anything happening due to that so....
I'd rather have the camera ready to shoot :)

I have had Lowepro Fastpack 350 till zipper got torn out so I was in need of repalcement. Now i have gotten ProTactic 450 II just a week ago and i strongly dislike it. I can fit less in it, zippers are jerkier and usualy catch and stop for what ever reason, unlike ones on my old fastpack. Opening and closing main compartment of my ProTactic is 3 hands job, due straps, upper rubber grip and all other things in the way. When You watch Lowepro showing us how it works in their promo video it seems like its ... swoosh open ... swoosh close, in reality its such a pain. Laptop compartment is a joke. Most of the world own non apple products ... so making backpack solely for apple laptops is stupid. I prefer PC over Apple and not being able to close backpack when laptop is inside compartment is ridiculous.

Now for my claim i could fit more ...

Fastpack 350

Lower compartment
1 DSRL body with grip and lens attached, 3 lenses 2 speedlites, 3 packs of spare AA batteries, 2 triggers.

Upper compartment
Additional 2 speedlites, 2 godos sbracket, 2 regular umbrella holders, 2 flashdisc diffusers, aditional DSLR body, light meter, gels bag, filters in a filters pouch, pocket knife, lens cleaning microfiber cloth in plastic container (really small) CF cards, bussines cards, wet wipes.

Upper front pocket.
Sunglasses in protection casing

Lower front pocket
extra batteires for DSRLs and BR camera style strap.

Back laptop compartment
15.6 laptop with ease and IKEA rain cover and mouse pad

ProTactic 450

1x DSRL with grip, 3 lenses, 2 speedlites, 2 sbracket, 1 trigger, 1 filter in filters pouch, BR camera style Strap, wet wipes.

Side pockets are barely usable ... my wallet will not fit there. I mean it fits, just cant zip it afterwards.

Laptop compartment barely takes in my IKEA personal rain cover packed in original square packaging. By that i mean ... it bulks up so much that i cant close backpack because rain cover needs to be shuffled around to find spot where bulge is least pressing against gear.

I do own LowePro Computrekker AW and irony ... its smaller then ProTactic ... height wise, but its fatter overall depth wise wich makes it a bit problematic when You walk among people and in close quarters ... i usualy knock stuff around. Also i can fit more in Computrekker then i would even in my Fastpack.

Overall while ProTactic 450 its great backpack ... i feel ive been spoilt and not sure how to go about using this one without resentment.

Any advice on how to not sell it and get something better but also adjust on using this one are welcome.

Did you attempt to use the lifetime warranty on LowePro products? I have only had to use it once, probably 30 years ago but the service was such that I always purchased LowePro after my issue was resolved (exceptionally easy by the way).

I live in a country that can be considered as a..hole of the ... never mind ... not US so ... warranty does not apply. Still im happy i got wind of that zipper breaking before any of my gear fell out.
