Cheap software for photographers. The HDR software is the most useful one, IMO.

YOLO!

Yep, so no need to waste my time dealing with potential computer viruses. potential malware, and potentially other things that make my one life difficult.

I've had more trouble with Microsoft, mostly via windows updates, than anything else.

Anyway, you don't get a virus just by clicking a link, unless you're using IE7 or something.

Humble Bundle is a legitimate vendor of software; they put bundles (usually video games, but sometimes other things) that you can choose to pay a little or a lot for and then distributes the profits between their organization, a number of different charities and the developer/manuf of the software.

Sorry, that's just plain wrong. The people who write malware are always discovering new "holes" .

You certainly are acting as a phisherman would.

Thanks for the information- I never heard of them before. The way their link was presented (and is continued to be presented) by the original poster does them no favors.

That's what you think but that doesn't make it true.
Another point is, why post a link without telling us what it's supposed to point to?

This is so wrong that it needs a third reply!

What sets this type of attack apart from others is that users need not click on anything to initiate the download. Simply accessing or browsing a website can activate the download.

I've been here for almost 4 years, have over 800 posts, and my personal info is listed. You assumed I might intentionally post something harmful, so you got a ridiculous response. It's also silly because you came across as though I owed you something: an explanation and convincing, though I posted it only to help members. It doesn't matter to me if you click it, I'm just giving people the opportunity to get the same deal I did.

You're correct, I forgot Flash seems to have had a lot of trouble with being exploited. IIRC, Tor turns it off by default, for security - if you're interested in that... The other examples, though not all equal, are similar to what I said - i.e. out of date browsers, which IE7 very much is.

I'm not going to look up anyone's history here to see if they are phishing or not. Maybe your user ID got hacked?

I'm not sure why you term anyone being properly suspicious as acting "ridiculous". Your response was unwarranted and borderline rude.

One of the main reasons people update browsers is because the "bad hombres" are always finding new holes to exploit. Not knowing anything about you, nor the link, I certainly will not click the link in your original post with the information that you gave me. Maybe that link has a new exploit.

To save the poor mod team from dealing with reports of potential spam, please at least post a description with the link. Also this should probably be in market watch.

Sure thing. I wasn't aware of that category, thanks! Feel free to move it there. Also, I added a description.
