nice job. where was the wedding? beautiful background. where you using a reflector? the grooms eye was a little dark in the 1st one and maybe the pose with the flowers...the flowers are a little high? it's all subjective though!

THanks, the wedding was at Luana Hills on Oahu. I don't have a reflector. IT was a little challenging with so many clouds but in a way that is easier than bright sunlight.

I only have time to comment on the first image. I love his expression and his pose, and I love the background. Also the exposure looks good. A beautiful location for sure.

Problems that I see. He has racoon eyes. A large silver reflector or a weak burst of flash would eliminate them. She held the flowers too high and as a result we can't see his, plus it looks bad holding them this high. She is turned too far toward him which makes her arm look huge. Also her arm looks large because sleeveless clothing tends to make even thin arms look big and she is holding the bouquet rather tightly causing her muscles to be tense. Combine all three of these things and you have the 'WOW look at that arm' factor. She has fingers growing out of her right side.

#1: shot is a bit soft - even for a wedding shot. The background is too dark - makes the shot overall too dark.

#2: background is distracting. Half bright half dark with the division line going right through their heads.

Overall shots look dark on m monitor. Did you use a flash? If not it's a definate must for good people shots.

Numbering them left to right and top to bottom - 5 pictures.
I like #1 the best by far. Everything came out right - the framing, the background, the pose and the exposure, although it is just a tad dark.

In #2, I don't like that background at all - otherwise, it's a good pose.

In #3 I think you came in too close, or not close enough. The flowers are growing out of the frame, and her arm just dangles into nowhere. You had to either back up or get in closer. Perhaps closer would eliminate the problems and let you concentrate on the kiss.

In #4 the double exposure effect behind the little boy just ruins it for me, although it wasn't much of a shot to begin with.

In #5 some minor framing problems. The veil is just kissing the frame (unfortunate) and her hand just disappears into nothingness at the left frame - also unfortunate. The subjects are not placed will with respect to the background (It's a little too busy around their heads). Otherwise that would be an excellent shot.

All 5 are excellent pictures with minor faults. I would suggest putting more effort into vantage point (distance from the subject and perspective) and framing.

Thanks for everyone's advice. I am just starting wedding photography and it really helps to get outsiders' opinions. It is such a touchy area of photography because there is no second chance.

The technical comments above are great for us photographers - as we all seek perfection

In addition though you have captured well the feeling of love and we must remember there is a bit more to photography than the technical aspect. Most customers remember being there, Not f stops

Keep up your work - with us you will be a star - technician as well as artist

I like shots like #4 (with the kid) because it shows something other than just bride and groom, though I agree with Robert that the double exposure on the kid is distracting!
