If no one wants to post topics for the Oct hunt I'll put some up tomorrow.

The only topic ideas I had were:

"On the side."

"How you spent your weekend" Or just plain "Weekend"

Fee free to use them, or not.

Zoom Blur and Intentional Camera Movement will be interesting. I have lots of camera movement shots...sadly, they were all UNintentional.

Tim -- now you'll have a reason to keep one or two of those blurry shots, for this month at least. :p

Mine are going to be late. Our power has been shut off for 48-72 hours and we have a major fire just north of us that may head this way if the winds shift.

We're safe for now and we're packed to go in case we get a mandatory evacuation order tonight.

Shoot! who worries about earthquakes when your electric utility starts a fire, burns 30,000 acres and then cuts your power?

Stay safe Tim. California just can't seem to catch a break this season.

I think the fire that's close to Tim's is now burning over 65K acres with only 5% contained .
We had wind gusts yesterday like I've never seen before and new fires popping up all over the place.
I lost my power for a very short time but I have my generator ready....just in case.
They say we are supposed to have another wind "situation" this Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning.
My prayers are with all those affected by these fires (Southern California too).

On a side note...I have a couple pictures to post and hope to get another one or two before the end of the month.

That's what they're saying this afternoon. Updates on the Kincade Fire are here: https://www.sfgate.com …66-231-acres-14567967.php (external link) The page includes a map that shows evacuation areas. I don't know just where Tim lives, but the way this fire spreads, it isn't in any nice comfort zone.

Air was smoky this morning. Our power's been on all the time. Some businesses within a few blocks have had outages.

How's the fire situation Tim?

The good news is only one fatality so far. Over 66,000 acres burned. Several firefighters injured. 200,000 people under mandatory evacuation orders, although that number is going down as I write this.

Electric utility power remains out. My trusty Honda 6.5kw generator is running great. Comcast internet is down, but satellite TV works just fine. We have all the essentials like hot coffee, running water, hot showers, etc etc. We're fine. Just inconvenienced.

Last night fire containment dropped from 10% down to 5% because the fire had expanded so much. Calm(er) winds today is helping the firefighters establish better containment lines, but winds are predicted to startup again early tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. Smoke is drifting into SF Bay area. Air quality is unhealthy here at my place.

The heavy smoke is also preventing the use of the heavy air tankers. It's not safe for in the hilly terrain. Helicopters with water buckets are filling in.

We're 6 miles south of the nearest fire front where several homes burned last night, but when the winds pick up again they will be NE to SW and with over 4,000 firefighters on the lines, I suspect we'll be okay.

The overall Incident Command Center base is between us and the fire. I don't think they're worried about it burning. The fire would have to go through the IC before it gets to us.

Either way, we're packed and ready to move on 15 minutes notice. We'll get back in photography mode when things calm down.

Thanks for the update Tim. Pictures on TV do not look encouraging.

Glad you all are doing okay.

Collage of our garden, almost all gone for the season. Missed a corner but it's raining outside and forecast to be so for the next few days so I did a poor job of "patching" it.
