The in camera 8 shot stack is fast but will only be successful on a still subject, how fast depends on available light.

There are a lot of things Canon needs to "look into".

What else out of interest?

Could you use a torch, in low light do you think? For me my most interesting (not neccessarily most popular*) photos I find at night.

*I often think of the few photos that I have that go to explore they are not the correct ones - true for some other people's photos as well.

Don't want to high jack the thread. I personal have few complaints about Canon, was speaking to many things others have mentioned on this forum: i.e. Lack of 4K in modern cameras.

no reason you couldn't use the stacking feature with torch light. My own hunts by torchlight always seemed to reveal the same critters ie Earwigs and a beetle named Nalassus laevioctostriatus; not a lot else.

Very tempted to try this. I am a bit busy now but I will probably investigate it more in February March.

I have family in South America and walking there at night is amazing. Stick insects, crickets and mantids are almost 100% nocturnal.
None of the stick insects in this album were found during the day

(Sadly I normally have to walk on my own which is not ideal, falling over in the dark etc and also it is scary).
