I have a 17-40 and I'm not impressed with the sharpness. What other lens in that range would be sharp. What about the Rokinon 24mm 1.4? Canons 16-35 f4?
I appreciate any information.

I shoot full frame most of the time and also a crop. I've been thinking the 16-35 as it would work on both. I have noticed the softness in the corners too on the 17-40.

I like it to be 2.8, I have it on film and older digital cameras. I owned the 16-35L II for many years and at one point it was a great lens but by today's standards it is a relic that I can no longer recommend. the 16-35L II is not sharp wide open plus it is soft in the corners. http://instagram.com/edraderphotography/
