Jan 05, 2019 20:28 | #2 Nice job, do you have the 85mm 1.8 in your signature? Shooting BB indoors is hard any sports indoor is hard. You can stop to 2.0 or 2.2 and get the iso down to 1600 and def get some of the grain out of the photos. Keep up the good work! Alex

On the 7D it would give a field of view much like what I get with a 1D4 and 100mm. Personally, I think its a sweet spot for shooting action from the baseline. Good work and I'd bet you could reduce some additional grain in post by using moderate noise reduction in ACR prior to sharpening. Keep it up! Scott Evans Photography

One thing to remember is that it is easier to clean up noise than it is blur. I personally think the slowest shutter speed for BB is 1/800th, and if at all possible, get the speed up over 1/1000th. Yes you will push the ISO up a bit, but there are tools and settings that will make this easier. f2.8 and ISO 6400 would allow more latitude with shutter speeds.... Well you are certainly the master when it comes to getting super clean images at very high ISO. Been using LR (5) for three years now and I can say that I have gotten better at post processing but still have a long ways to go. Any presets for LR worth exploring?

Raw files don't change that often in their formats. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Jan 08, 2019 11:42 | #8 I have recently tried a few basketball photos and found them tricky to get enough shutter speed to really freeze things. I found 1/500-1/640 not quite fast enough for my liking.

I can certainly believe that! Right now I have zero PP skills so I would definitely have to work on that before I can shoot at those shutter speeds and the ISO levels that accompany them!

Would you believe these days with the 5D4, I actually don't do too much specialized NR? I actually shoot in-camera JPEG and then run a quick "cleanup" action in photoshop that does steps of Noiseware NR, contrast, etc. I don't do anything at the color channel level, nothing in DPP on the raw files, etc like I did pre-7D2 and pre-5D4. This was in a college venue, so lighting was a bit more subdued. Again OOC JPG with the same action in Photoshop. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

Jan 09, 2019 19:10 | #13 How about the high ISO noise reduction settings on the 7D MkII? I have mine set to standard. Any advantage in changing it to High?

Pretty sure high iso noise reduction is only applied to jpegs out of camera Alex
