I want to take a second to encourage all of you here to take the time to photograph those close to you. About 35 years ago I did a series of portraits of my grandfather, his brothers and some of his hunting buddies. These men were instrumental in shaping who I am as a person. The last of those men died just before Christmas. I was struck by the fact they used my photo of him in the printed materials for the funeral, as well as a framed print sat on the closed coffin. My family pointed out to me that it wasn't the first time those photos had been incorporated in the the memorial service. I think it helps to remind those mourning the loss of a loved one to see them in photos that capture their essence in life. Here are a couple from that series. Feel free to share your experiences.
