Fixed-Lens Photo Challenge #012: "I didn't like this..."
_______________

Let us see a fine photograph of some thing or situation or event that you didn't like or didn't enjoy (if you can't think of anything that fits, then you're very lucky!).
_______________

Remember, if you post a photo, you may be the winner. Be prepared to host and judge a new challenge.

To submit, click the button labeled "POST TO THREAD" and put your photo title in the first line of the post, above your photo. Your camera brand and model must appear in the post. Include additional EXIF data, if you like.

Enter just one photo.

Post until Monday noon GMT, 14 Jan 2019.

Rules

  1. Camera: Any fixed-lens camera, all brands and models. Cell phones are also included. No DSLRs!

  2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible except photos that have won other POTN competitions.

  3. Size: Photo must be no less than 800 pixels and no more than 1600 pixels on the longest side, with no borders.

  4. Postprocessing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.

  5. Photo Display: Photos must appear in this thread to be eligible.

  6. Commenting: Please title your photo, but no commenting on photos or "likes" by anyone during the challenge, including the photographers. Once the winners are declared, photographers can add comments to their images and everyone is invited to discuss. The host and others may also post photos after the winners are announced.

    Hosting

    1. The challenge host is the winner of the last challenge.

    2. As soon as possible after your win is announced, start a thread in the Competitions forum with this title: Fixed-Lens Challenge #XXX: Subject.

    3. To use this format for posting your challenge, use the MQ button down in the right corner of the screen. Then hit 'Start A New Thread'.

    4. Soon after noon GMT on the next Monday, post your choices for first, second, and third place. No ties, please. Comments on the photos are nice but not required.

    5. If the winner can't be contacted and doesn't respond by Wednesday noon GMT, the second-place winner will host the challenge. If both are unavailable, the third-place winner will host.

Schedule

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:
  • New Topic: As soon as possible after winning.
  • Posting Starts: Right after topic is announced.
  • Posting Stops: Monday noon GMT.
  • Winners Announcement: As soon as possible, max. until Tuesday noon GMT.

RESULTS

Thanks to everybody who entered although I expected more given the wide range of things that people really don't like that should be easy to photograph well in everyday life - traffic jams, garbage day, the next-door neighbour's dog, city smog, rundown areas, ugly graffiti, broccoli, dirty laundry, etc, etc.

Some comments:

Just whistle: don't know why you don't like mourning doves, or maybe you mean the branch across it's chest?

Trumper: totally agree that transmission lines and wind turbines do visually pollute the countryside, however necessary.

Stiga: good dramatic landscape showing the sort of weather that very few people like.

Jim Askew: not a very cheerful picture, particularly if the houses are really tilting dangerously downhill.

Maureen Souza: I don't like chocolate this strong either!

Old Crow: The trees don't look happy about the heavy snow either. Good shot but posted after the challenge closed.

And the winners are:

1. Stiga
2. Trumper
3. Maureen

Many thanks teekay, there should have been more entries though. Well done Trumper and Maureen.

Congratulations to the winners. teekay, there are many things I don't like, but I didn't have a good (artistically good) photo that I wanted to use. As for new shots, the weather here has been unfavorable, and not in a picturesque way like a snowy area.

just whistle's mourning dove, represented by a few feathers, was the dinner.

Kudos, Martin. I tried twice, but both photos were taken with a DSLR.

Well done Martin.
Maybe i should have just posted grey ,it's all we've had weatherwise this winter. The snow ones look nice ---although in the UK 1 inch of snow would bring us to a stand.
The electric pylons are a necessity but they do seem to stick them in the nicest places :)

Well done Martin, Trumper. And Mo. Great photos and great interpretation of the theme. We got 9 inches of snow yesterday and I am hoping that is all for this winter! I’m getting too old to shovel snow.

After a rocky start to 2019, I finally had a decent week so it was hard to come up with something I didn’t like. My 16 yr old grandson’s friend bought chocolates for me (very kind) but when I ate one it was too much chocolate. Who would have thunk? :p

Congrats to Martin & Trumper! Thanks Teekay... I like challenges that finish a sentence or thought. :-)
