Hello,

I am an ebay seller and am currently using a 2 light setup for taking pictures of the clothing/products that I am selling. I would like to know if there is a better alternative to what I am using.

Canon 6D

2 Strobes (2 Yongnuo 565 EXII) - Just bought a YN600EX-RT II since one of my flashes was making the batteries very hot.

2 Stands w/ shoot thru/bounce umbrellas

Impact Collapsible Background

Here is a link to my setup: https://imgur.com/a/fp8LG11 (external link)

I didn't know where I should post this, so please feel free to move it.

Thank you!

For me, I would choose a more 'harder' light to show texture and to show details like beauty dish or even bare bulb. This way customers can see stuff like the whether the sweater is piling or design of the tartan is detailed. It is a paradox with soft box/ umbrellas since it is soft, and it makes skin look soft, yet flat. On products, I wouldn't want flat.

Shoe-speedlites are limited in power, so I would also be careful of the bigger products you may sell. You might run out of light before showing bigger products.

And maybe for an alternative, put both lights in an over/under setup barebulb with a v-flat and ditch the impact BG and umbrellas.
