My old trusty Vivitars have finally completely given up the ghost. I'm looking at something to replace them with and was looking at the Godox AD200's. My primary question is how big a modifier can they be used with. Up till now, I've only used umbrellas. I'd like to add softbox and one of the long bank lights to my kit. I've been putting this off but now it's finally time.

the design of the bulb or strobe head is what determines the "best" softbox size. The bare bulb on the 200 has no distinct advantage over other similar designs, generally speaking. How the unit is mounted might be a consideration for the style of box, but not really the size.

Get a Glow 30-48" parabolic, and the bowens clamp for the AD200. This gives you the ability to attach the softbox to the flash mount, not the flash itself. If you get 2 AD200s, there is a dual head Bowens mount that you can attach the two bulbs on one side and the base units on the other, using the same kind of softbox.

I have used the Neewer umbrella softboxes in the past where the flash sits inside through a zip slit, but am selling those and going with a couple of Bowens mount Glow softboxes, much easier to manage this way.

They are on sale at Adorama right now too.

Dual head bowens mount if you are getting 2 strobes: https://www.amazon.com …flash+bracket+ad200&psc=1 (external link)

Generic flash bowens mount if you are just getting a single: https://www.amazon.com …ords=bowens+flash+bracket (external link)

38" Deep Glow mid-size softbox: https://www.adorama.com/glsbez38.html (external link)
28" version: https://www.adorama.com/glsbez28.html (external link)

I would even consider the 48" if you do the dual head...

I have been using these as mentioned above: https://www.amazon.com …_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (external link)
They work until you want to really point the strobes at hard angles (up toward ceiling for example). Work great if I am strobing in the general direction of the subject though.

I am going to sell these I think, along with the Impact flash/umbrella bracket, as I want to move to Bowens connecting softboxes.

The S-type brackets are indeed a great invention. Two thumbs up on all of your suggestions above.
