G 15 to g7 x II

Has anyone on the forum gone from a g15 to a g7x II I have had the G15 for about 6 years now and it has served me well and still work good I am looking for better image quality and some nice features on the g7xII I was wondering if anyone else has had both of these cameras and if the upgrade is worth it as far as image quality and low light use.

I upgraded from a G12 to a G5X and the larger sensor is fantastic. I think the G7X has the same or similar semnsor so Go for it!

I just did it (g15 went to wife so still have both ). Both are really good point and shoot cameras but the G7XII is certainly much better.

Few things that I really like.
- Wider angle
- cleaner files, especially at higher ISO's, this alone makes it worth the upgrade.
- Flip out screen
- I love how you can bounce the flash. Seems almost silly that I like this but it's a nice feature.
- WIFI, I didn't think I would care but this is really a nice feature
- touch screen works well
- the control dial in front is very useful

What I don't like
- I prefer the feel of the G15. The G7XII is a bit too small but I guess small can have it's advantages.
- lack of a viewfinder - The G15 is bad here too but I really wish Canon had one like the Sony.

The G5 X has a viewfinder and the multi angle screen

I considered the G5X but there are some advantages to it being really small. It's the camera I'll take with me anywhere.

Thank you for replying I agree about the lack of a viewfinder although the g15 was almost useless and I never used it. A pop up one would be nice like in the Sony.I do like the addition of the touch screen and that it flips up where the G15 of course doesn't have that . Most importantly that you say it produces cleaner files and is better and higher Iso settings!

I did a similar from the G12 and am so happy with the G7X Mk II that I'll be leaving the DSLR & gear at home more often. I put some samples up on Flickr:

Yes thats my reasoning too I want to leave the Dslr"s home when I am vacation and many more times

I went from a G-15 to a G7xMKII and agree with everything Tommydigii said.I do miss the better macro capabilities on the G-15 and the slightly longer reach.I really,really like my G7XMKII though.

P.S. Make sure you use fast SD cards - especially if you ever want to bracket your shots.
