Has anyone ever had one of these clips break or come loose? It is the little lever that holds the battery down inside the battery compartment. The one you push to the left to release the battery. Wht is the difficulty in changing one if need be....

Also, has anyone had this happen on a battery door? Is there a way to prevent the door latch from busting? How common is this?

no idea how common breakage is, but that battery clip appears to be part of the front cover assembly, apparently part number CG2-2850-010 (US$40 on ebay, but probably cheaper from Canon)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:
