One from last night Canon 5dsr 600f4isL mkII + 2xtc 1000 sec f 8 iso 800 tripod gimbal mounted .

Quite simply because they don't have time to register at the exposure settings. they were there though :)

You'd be surprised if you really stretched the data.;-)a

In PS CC I created a new Layer and selected "Image" "Adjustments" then "Equalize" and look what popped out of the BG.:-)

I suspect it is a good candidate for a bright field star rather than a spurious pixel?

I think your right Dennis as it shows motion blur that makes sense as I was panning all the time while taking the shots.

Yes on a tripod you just have to be ready early and get the tripod height right shoot in short bursts and try to keep it in the view finder .

it's not easy as you also have to keep speeding up your pan speed .

Not only the the correct height, but also pointing correctly right or left. Knowing my luck I would have it pointed 180° in the wrong direction!!
