Great... another new KISS model to be announced, and on Valentines Day to boot. :)

Just saw this announcement at Canon Rumors. If they don't screw it up and drop in the same sensor they put in the 6d Mk 2, this might be more appealing than the EOS R. I could stand fewer features for a lower price if it has a higher DR sensor, something on par with the 5d Mk IV.

This guy was speculating on what the camera might be like and if Canon is making a mistake.

RUMORED SPECS FOR THE EOS RP:

https://www.canonrumors.com …os-rp-specifications-cr1/ (external link)

If this is accurate, I'm in. A decent sensor, even lighter weight, good price... Won't have to wait for the Pro model, which probably would be more than I care to spend and too heavy.

CR1 = Next to worthless. Poking around the web shows a whole lot of speculation an few of the lists match. :)

Likewise. I am skeptical of that price though, seems quite low for a FF with newer technology. But even at 1600 it sounds reasonable. (I hope Canon doesn't see that I said that) If the earlier rumor is correct we won't be waiting long to find out about this thing.

So a 6D2 remade as a mirrorless able to use RF lenses...

Appears to be so, somehow I am not surprised. Interesting to see what the price point is, somehow I doubt the rumor of $1300.

Maybe a little disappointing to use the old sensor, but had the 6DII been introduced at 1600 bucks, I think there would have been less backlash against it.

Some of the other sites are claiming $1600. So if it is $1600, it will most likely settle in around $1200~$1300 once the first adopters are milked.

it's basically official now, Nokishita has specs up

https://www.nokishita-camera.com/2019/02/eos-rp.html (external link)

feels like the end of APS-C is around the corner if this is priced right. I figure Nikon and Sony will have to follow if true, and TBF, I would LOVE a smaller entry level cam to add to my collection.

Hmm. I translate it and come up with this.
6.2 million pixel full size sensor
Dual pixel CMOS AF
DIGIC 8
Continuous shooting performance: 5 frames / sec
ISO sensitivity: 100 to 40000 (equivalent to extended ISO: 50, 51200, 102400)
Organic EL EVF
3.0 type touch panel variable angle liquid crystal
Dual Sensing IS
DLO in camera, RAW development in camera, C-RAW compatible
Size: 132.5 x 85.0 x 70.0 mm
Weight: Approximately 440 g (body only), about 485 g (including batteries?)
Kit lens: RF 24 - 105 mm F 4 L IS USM

6MP can't be right.

26.2, you probably missed the 2 in your text selection.

as for end of apsc, i said this a while back, but apsc will mostly be relegated to the M series and R will be full frame ... except for probably a "pro" level apsc R like the 7D.
