We've had some seriously bad/cold/incredibly windy days of late.
Wind chill here well below 0F.
These conditions and Poof and I open the splash studio.
Most of the time (this time included) it takes us quite a while to dial in
the splash, about an hour and a half for this round.
Once the collisions begin we enjoy a round (or two, or even three) of
dry gin :) Kinda of a reward for the patience involved getting to the point
where we can begin imaging.

This round using milk and all flashes in the front/top.

Yes, I need to start shooting drops again. It's just very time consuming & I've been quite busy. Milk w/ food coloring is my favorite but it can get quite pricey. Which "time machine" set up do you use? Do you use anything for thickening when you use water?

Time consuming indeed.
Yes we have full on recipes we make up ahead of time.
Guar gun is a big one and usually takes a whole day of filtering to get it
just right.

There is a product you should try that is available in most pharmacies. It's called "Thicken Up". It's used to thicken liquids for the elderly. It doesn't need to be strained. But be careful, a little goes a long way. Water can go from liquid to pudding very quickly.

Pigpen, thanks. I happen to be a pharmacist so can probably score some 'Thicken Up'.
LV thanks as always. We splashed again last night and had collisions withing 5 mins and this using completely new recipe. The splash gods were with us :)

That's one of my favorite things with splash photography. Once you get settings down you can rattle off many good photos & NONE of them are the same.
