agreed

I have been haggling back and forth with the EOS R. If Im going to buy a new body it has to have dual cards and it needs to be as good as what I currently use. Its got to be as good as the 5D4....agree 100% with you

I wonder why the 24-70 is coming when they have a 28-70 (and yes I am aware there is a one stop difference and IS)...

Some people prefer having that extra 4mm on the wide end so would be something smaller than the 28-70mm that also covers that popular FL.

Its 3k for that 28-70 2.0

a 24-70 F/2.8 Will probably come in $1200.00 cheaper

i do wonder if they are going to drop any budget lenses...that rumored released of the $1500 new R camera doesn't really make much sense if almost every lens available is $1,000 plus...i guess you could just use the adapter with the EF mount lenses...i'm starting to really wonder if that replacement to a 7D is coming this year...

This comment exactly for me.

They are introducing high quality R optics, at high end pricing, and they only have an entry level camera to mount them on. Does not make sense to me if you are using a higher end camera like a 5D4 or a 1Dx. Just makes more sense to wait it out to me

The 24-240 looks like a budget kit lens to me.

Once the EOS R is available on the refurb store for less than what this new model will list at will be the time when I will pick on up, just for fun. I need a 5D4 style camera, but can do some gigs with just a single slot, I don't need double slots for everything I shoot, like family and senior portraits, home studio shots, etc. However, I will likely use EF lenses still just because I will wait out the current RF prices, they will fall eventually.

This is a curious FL range, and one of the reasons I am still taking this particular rumor with a large handfull of salt.

If it is true, it finally puts something like the amazing flexibility of the 18-135mm in the hands of FF shooters! This would therefore be the first R lens I would buy.

IMHO, it's such a logical range, such a wishful range, I can't believe it's true! lol!

An R with that lens would compete nicely with

Possible pics here,

If right the 24-240 is just the sort of thing to pair with new body to get people started.

This is great news for me, because it means there will be a flood of really nice used DSLRs and EF lenses onto the market, when their owners decide that, all of a sudden, they can't produce great photos any more.
