The World War II aircraft carrier USS Hornet has been discovered. Found below 17,000 feet of water, the carrier was famous
for the Doolittle raid and the battle of Midway.

Very interesting, thanks for posting.

Though there were too many lost, I was expecting much greater when I started reading
Amazing photos, so clear and not much debris over the ship.

Or the Shinano?

WikiP says “At 10:57 Shinano finally capsized and sank stern-first at coordinates (32°07′N 137°04′E), 65 miles (105 km) from the nearest land, in approximately 4,000 meters (13,000 ft) of water“.

Likely no one’s dived on her.

Instead of starting a new post, I decided to add to this one.

Three WWII aircraft recently found. They were part of Operation Hailstone in the Pacific.
They were found in a popular dive area, but went undetected for decades.

Here's one link...

The Yamato was located in 1985, in 2000 feet of water.

Likely no one’s dived on her.

OTOH, the 12600' depth of the Titanic did not prevent Bob Ballard from finding her wreckage and filming it in 1986, and in recent times an extended series of submersible dives have disclosed a ton of data about the actual mechanics of her sinking in spite of her 'unsinkable' design
