Hi Everyone

Normally Canon EF-S lenses wont work on a full frame body as they're designed only to project an image over the 24mm x 18mm surface area of the APS-C sensor.

How come you can use them on the EOS-R mirrorless series,

Does the camera detect its an EF-s type lens and just record an APS-C size crop from the full frame sensor, or is the spacing set so the image pans out to full frame size which I would have thought would impact on the sharpness

With canon Efs lenses the camera goes into crop mode and uses the centre of the sensor, the camera can be put into crop mode with any other lens so third party lenses designed for APSC bodies can be used without vignette.

That means a hefty loss of resolution but the larger pixel size should sit well with the EF-S glass and produce some very clean images.
