The only reason I'd buy it is because of how good the body looks, and how god damn sweet the box looks on that thing..............

I put my request in for the 30D when it was announced. My local camera store called me today 3/23 and told me they would be here tomorrow afternoon around 3. So, I imagine they will be out much earlier than 2 weeks. I will be picking mine up tomorrow, and I am in Kentucky.

What I am not understanding, is WHY would you want a 30D, when you have a much, much superior 5D.....it's insane...

You are quite right. However, I sold my 20D to finance the 5D. Now I miss my 1.6 Crop for birding, wildlife, etc. It will make an excellent 2nd body. I love the 5fps also.

I thought the 1.6x Crop Factor, was a big dis-advantage, compared to a FF (like your 5D)? The crop factor, pretty much JUST trims your pictures, whereas the FF is fully there.

It turns a 300mm into a (reaches for calculator) 480mm

In 1934, Yoshida succeeded in producing a prototype of the first domestically made 35mm focal-plane shutter camera. A believer of the Buddhist faith, he named it "Kwanon" after the Goddess of Mercy, and placed an advertisement for "Kwanon Cameras" in the June 1934 issue of Asahi Camera magazine. - Canon Global History Page - Current Equipment FS items https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1228198

Lucky for you Norman Camera is right around the corner. You'll be amazed at the EF-S 10-22mm too.

Hola - anyone know if the grip is as thin as on the 20D. I didn't care for that - it didn't seem balanced. Is that what it's called the grip? Where the shutter release button is.
thanks - andy.
