AR2783, still a lovely sunspot in this active region with lots of mottling and filaments, and a nice arching prominence on the western limb.

There's a new big spot rounding the limb, possibly going to be AR2786 and it's trailing the known AR2785 right now. It's significantly larger, around twice the size. It's very active. There's a great hedge prom near by, a huge filament, lots of mottling and some surge prominences. But most interesting is the big looping prominence going over the region. Full discs provided in three wavelengths (HA, CaK, WL).

I was able to go back this afternoon and do an extended panorama in moderate resolution of AR2783 and its surrounding mottling.

AR2786 is a big spot, dragging some great activity with it around the limb, and AR2785 is still towing it forward. Great activity going on the eastern limb.

Very best,

Nice shots. I have been clouded out during my 2 hours observing window. Really hate my neighbors trees!!! We are supposed to have some clear skies by Sunday, I certainly hope so

Hope so! The great spot in AR2786 is a big one, biggest we've had since AR2738 back in April of 2019. It should last the full 12 day transit, so we have the next 9 days or so with it hopefully!

AR2786's great spot is still going strong, though a light bridge is forming signaling soon to decay, but it should still last the transit of the face of the disc.

 :-D Yup! Helioseismology is sweet, also we have far side mapping and imaging of the sun, so we can see active regions long before they face us on the disc so we can be prepared. It's a great time for solar, cycle 25 is coming in quick. The AR2786's big spot is really sweet! You can see it with your bare eyes with a visually safe film filter (like used for eclipse viewing, etc). No scope needed. I looked at it yesterday with basic visual film with just my eyes. It's bigger than Earth, so it's easy to spot. From the Northern hemisphere, it appears towards the bottom of the disc.
