If you go that route be sure to buy batteries that come with charger. The Canon charger will not charge 3rd party but the 3rd party will charge Canon.

Seems like it will be just fine for stills shooting, dont really care about video. Shooting will be just kids, the dogs, and scenery. I will tell you I have had an A7iii + xt3 that I used for pro work. Sold those and kept my canon 5dmkiii. I grabbed an RP at the refurb price and am quite impressed. You get a lot for $600.

I bought the RP and adapter, both refurbished and couldn't be happier for the price. I also have the R10 with adapter and these two have become my go to cameras most days. I don't have any RF lenses.
