I have DPP Version 4.9.2 (Digital Photo Professional 4). Today I shot RAW + JPEG (this was the first time I had done that with the RP--my first group of photos with the RP had been shot in JPEG only). I figured DPP would have no problem handling these files.

(1) However, in DPP I am only seeing the CR3 files. I am not seeing the JPEG files.

(2) In addition, DPP does not seem to be recognizing the CR3 files in the sense that each one has a question mark on it, and when I click on any thumbnail it just shows a postage-stamp-sized version with a large question mark on it.

I thought DPP would work with the CR3 files since it is a Canon product. (I am also wondering where the JPEGS are.)

Anyone having success with DPP and RP files when shooting RAW + JPEG? I don't usually use DPP so I am not very familiar with it.

You need version 4.10 to process the CR3 files from the RP. I haven't used it much, but I think there is a setting for thumbnails to group RAW+JEPG images (showing only the RAW) or show them separately.

This is correct.

I was playing around with the EOS RP with the 24-105 - image quality is great but balance felt terrible, very front weighted with a slim body, just felt way off. Thoughts?

I think this is something you just get used to. I have an 80D and a 50mm f/1.8 STM and a 300mm f/4 L. Obviously the balance is completely different when using these lenses, but I don't even notice.

I've been using it with the 100-400 IS II and the 100 IS, and yes, the balance is off with large lenses, but even on my 5D IV I still always hold/support the lens, so it actually doesn't seem that different from having them on a larger camera. That's why the smaller/lighter argument for these cameras doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me--or at least, I don't think it is the MAIN reason to purchase an RP or R. (However, when paired with small lenses, like the EFS 24 pancake, the RP definitely is smaller & lighter [even with the adapter], so there is that.)

Guy in the camera store knocked me down and and severely twisted my arm. Or maybe took the camera out of the box and let me play around with it. I don't remember exactly, but I seem to have one now.

JPEG with a little exposure correction, cropped to 4x5. Window light

QUOTED IMAGE
Findley (external link) by Ken Drozd (external link) on Flickr

Ken, when I saw this picture of your dog, I couldn't believe it. It is a spitting image of our dog named Scruffy . Scruffy was an older dog that was at our local pound, and due to be put down that day since no one would adopt him. This was back in the 1970's. I did not want that scroungy looking dog, but I'll be darned if I was going to let the animal shelter put him down. So I took him. When my wife saw him, she just laughed. She was under the impression, as was I, that a hunting/guard dog would be coming home with me. As it turned out, Scruffy was full of fleas and ticks, so bathe him we did. He did not mind the scrubbing and soapy water at all. He seemed to know that we were getting rid of those miserable ticks and fleas. To make a long story short, Scruffy ended up being a gift from the heavens. He lived to be over 18 years old, and got more love than he knew what to do with. Yup, he was quite a dog, and a very important family member too.

Your picture brought back many old fond memories. Thank you, and enjoy your new camera.

Interesting coincidence - Findley was a stay in the Fresno area. We got him through Russell Rescue in 2012. Our vet though the was bout a year old. While traveling in the Black Hills two years ago we ran into some people from the UK who had a nearly identical dog.
