On mine they don't look blown out, they just look pastel. The histograms don't have anything creeping up the right wall.

That’s exactly right, OhLook, the histogram confirms they’re not blown out. And ‘pastel’ is actually the right word, it’s what I was after. I just thought It was a bit too pastel maybe after your comment. I did shoot it like this, by the way, so I didn’t lighten it in post.

A flock of cedar waxwings in a tree behind my fence. Never shot them before and yes, it was shot during the day.

This kind of tree is new to me. The flowers are much smaller than this photo makes them seem. Apparently a magnolia hybrid; also posted in the Flower Shots thread.

Something I've never photographed before. A compass that was carried by an eighteen year old Marine when he landed with the first wave of Marines on the beaches of Iwo Jima. I'll forever be proud to call him Dad.:-)

Got my first strobe a couple of weeks ago and have been dying to do this for the longest time. I know there is a lot of room for improvement, but I'm pleased with my first attempt at shooting something that I had never shot before!

First time photographing an egg taking a shower. Had wanted a better splash effect but not enough pressure coming from the faucet.

Well, that's something different. How many people would think of an egg taking a shower?

I think for a good splash you would need much faster shutter speeds to freeze the action. Or flash.
Still, pretty cool!

Also I think the round surface of the egg prevents a lot of splash compared to a flat surface.

Thanks Oh. If I give my eggs showers does than mean I'm unbalanced?:-P

Thanks. Next time a slower shutter speed so the water veils over the egg.

Roger that, I tried to find a flat egg but no luck. :p
