Look forward to more photos of your trip. What did you think of Alaska and choice of lens used?

I was overall satisfied with the lenses I took. On land the Tamron worked well. It was much harder on the excursion boats. They were small and bounced a lot. My lack of experience also showed. There was plenty of light to go to f/8 or even f/11 to get a larger depth of field, but I stayed as large as I could get. There were occasions when the 70-200 would have been nice, but the backpack was too heavy as it was. Not sure on the rules. Can I just post a link to my Flickr account or do I have to link individual photos? If I read correctly I hit my limit of uploads with those two. By the way I would appreciate critiques.

On my trip to Alaska I used two lenses : 24-105 f4 sigma and 150-600 Sigma as well. They work superb.

June or July are great times to go. As you start pushing into August it can get quite windy, sometimes putting a damper on things.

If you are thinking of cruising check Celebrity. We have used them and had an absolutely fantastic time. I’m getting emails and I can’t believe the low prices they are offering for 2021. In these times make sure you get travel insurance, preferably the kind that lets you cancel for any reason.

I was with Celebrity as well. End of May. Good weather, not too many people yet, after the cruise we stay back for 10 days took RV and go.

Yes, it was. We went on a small boat LuLu Belle from Valdez. Young calf stays with us for at least 10 min, playing. It was amazing

I was a project manager on the Alaska Pipeline and Valdez was one of my first trips to Alaska, perhaps March to April. I was amazed at the huge numbers of bald eagles doing their “fishing”. Awesome bird to see up close.

It seemed like bald eagles were more plentiful than pigeons in a city park in some of the places we visited. I loved seeing this magnificent bird so close. Here's one I took in Juneau:

Nothing but maybe Africa, and I mean nothing, beats Alaska for a combination of wildlife and landscape photography. Been there a number of times, as we have relatives in Anchorage. We've done road trips to Seward, Homer, Valdez, and Denali. All fantastic. Just the drive to those places offered spectacular opportunities. Can't wait to go again!

Got pretty close to this guy in Anchorage

Great views.

Alaska is a place you can go back to time and time again and never get tired of shooting everything you see.
