5D firmware 1.0.4, 1.0.5...

My 5D has firmware version 1.0.3, and that's the version that Canon currently has on their website as being the current version.

But on other forums and places on the Internet there are people reporting that they have firmware version 1.0.4 or even 1.0.5 on their brand new 5D. Here for example (external link) is someone who says he has version 1.0.5.

So it looks like there's going to be an update soon. Why would Canon be introducing it so quietly like this - why don't they make 1.0.5 available on their website immediately? And I wonder what the differences are going to be.

Could be a case that the other guys have dirty reading glasses too. Canon doesn't do secret software updates as far as I know.

Actually my second 5D body, picked up yesterday, says firmware 1.0.4. And my glasses are quite clean :)

I'm still getting used to the controls of my new 5D - what's the quickest way to verify firmware level? Thanks.

It's the last line in the LCD menu.

Thanks Az - that's the first place I'd looked, but obviously it was too late at night and the reading glasses weren't available  .

So, did he end up an East Side or West Sider? With the river running through the middle of the city that's one of Cleveland's "folklore" issues  .

He just moved out of the big city, he is in Medina now. Wherever that is?
But he still works in Cleveland.

LOL - you're not kidding. I used to live on the west side and work on the east side of C-town.

Medina is southwest of Cleveland, in Medina county. Good location IMHO.
