I would think that the compartment door is cheap, so you could just get it directly from Canon. canon's very good at getting replacement parts out.

My daughter has the same camera and it got banged around on a recent trip. I need to replace the battery door. Have one ordered, but don't know how to get the old door off.
There is a small metal rod that holds the hinges together. How do you get the rod out to replace the door?

There's a ridged part on one end of the metal rod that makes up the hinge. You push that part towards the centre of the battery door, which shortens the length of the hinge, and you can then remove the door from the camera.

If you can't figure it out from that description, hopefully someone can post you a scan of the appropriate battery grip manual. You need to remove the door to fit a battery grip.

I don't have my camera with me at the moment but from memory the pin is spring loaded. Maybe with it banged up it has jammed. When you get the new one you will probably be able to see how it fits. Good luck.
