Just got this email from Canon.

I send my gear to VA anyway, but hopefully this will not overload the folks in Newport News.

Got that email too, and the NJ location was closest to me...I hope they are expanding the VA one to handle the load.

Sad, I wonder how many Canon techs will lose their jobs.

When you see my camera gear you'll think I'm a pro.
When you see my photos you'll know that I'm not.

.

This is sad.

I want to hear Canon make announcements for things that provide more options for customers, and more opportunities for employees to make good incomes, not less.

I can understand how this closure may be good for Canon as a corporation, but I fail to see how it makes things better for their customers or for their employees who worked there.

.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

I just queried the Canon USA web site for service center closest to NJ (for 5d Mark IV) and came up with Newport News, VA. No mention of Lyndhurst NJ. How did you determine that Lyndhurst facility is open?

I was on the Canon Professional Services site. It listed only the Lyndhurst facility in NJ -- used to show both.

FWIW if you are on the CPS site, a NJ location appears to still be available for Gold and Platinum members to send products to, but not Silver. I noticed this the other day when checking to see what products I had registered.
