Took a lot of self-control not to buy anything when I saw this... their stock is pretty good this time.

(I like TDP's summary posts to quickly see list price and sale price, so that's what I'm linking here)

I couldn't resist and picked up a 100-400 II for $ 1,495.

15% off offer ended 3/28/19.

I was a few days too late. Thinking about the 5D4. Big online retailers selling it for $2999.
Canon refurb price $2699 - 15% = $2295. A savings of $704 over new.

Anyone know how often Canon has these refurb discounts?

Thanks, I'll see if I can edit the thread title to make that clear.

The refurb discounts come up periodically, not super frequently, and usually around holidays. I'd guess we'll see another round of discounts around Memorial Day, and maybe 4th of July. That said, they don't always apply to all products, so if you're looking for something specific, it may be hit or miss.

To my recollection about 3-4 times a year, usually a good one around Black Friday. However, it's typically 10%. I think Canon Price Watch reported the last time it was 15% was about three years ago. Five or so years ago they had a 20% sale, I bought a couple :)

A few days ago I was looking at Canon's refurb site and saw the 15% discount. At that time I didn't know whether to buy the 5D4 or rent first.
After thinking about it for awhile, I decided to buy. But too late! You know what they say...

You snooze, you lose
